Many times the Holy Spirit has awoke me at 3:30am for a ‘revelation’. I enjoy receiving from Him in the middle of the night, because He is focusing on me, when in fact it is probably me really focusing on Him. The following was a revelation of the Holy Spirit in studying the Holy Bible at 3:30am in October of 2019. While it was a great revelation, a great lesson, He has dealt with me that this was to become our model for Triumphant Life Ministries. I truly believe it is for ALL Believers as Yahshuah Himself said “Go and do likewise!” This is the model for all the Body!
“And behold, a certain lawyer stood up and tested Him, saying, “Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” He said to him, “What is written in the law? What is your reading of it? ” So he answered and said, “ ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself.’ ” And He said to him, “You have answered rightly; do this and you will live.” But he, wanting to justify himself, said to Jesus, “And who is my neighbor?” Then Jesus answered and said: “A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, who stripped him of his clothing, wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead. Now by chance a certain priest came down that road. And when he saw him, he passed by on the other side. Likewise a Levite, when he arrived at the place, came and looked, and passed by on the other side. But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And when he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. On the next day, when he departed, he took out two denarii, gave them to the innkeeper, and said to him, ‘Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, when I come again, I will repay you.’ So which of these three do you think was neighbor to him who fell among the thieves?”
And he said, “He who showed mercy on him.” Then Jesus said to him, “Go and do likewise.”’ Luke 10:25-37
The parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:25-37) the priest (the religious) and the Levite (the church) passed by on the other side of the road. They would not allow themselves to be “bothered” with the man attacked by robbers. The Samaritan came to the man, took pity on him, bandaged his wounds, gave him oil and wine, put him on a donkey, took him to an Inn, cared for him and (finally) gave the Inn Keeper two denarii to look after him and offered to reimburse any “extra” expense he might have.
Breaking this down… The Samaritan did eight acts of kindness to a complete stranger. Eight is the number of ‘New Beginnings’ in the Bible!
- The Samaritan (Jesus Christ himself, and also can represent the Body of Christ) went to the man when he was down, (Receive)
- Took pity on him (did not preach at him about what he did to get himself in the situation), (Compassion)
- Bandaged his wounds (Healed him, began the process of making him whole), (Heal)
- Gave him oil and wine (Oil represents the Holy Spirit and the wine represents life! So, you can draw a parallel in which the wine represents leading him to know and accept Jesus, and the oil being filled with the Holy Spirit), (Evangelize)
- He transported him via a donkey (this is AWESOME!! The donkey represents “humble and grateful”… Confirmed with Isaiah 1:3. So, the Samaritan took the time to take the man from his current troubled circumstances and took the man to a “safe place”. In doing so, the man would have the tendency to become humbled and grateful for what he is receiving.) (Recover)
- Took the man to an Inn (The Inn is a representation of a safe place, ‘lodging for travelers’, or a guest room to make a person feel “like home”. The third meaning of the word Inn is also a place of lodging animals! The Inn was also a place for animals (donkeys, oxen and camels) to be “unloosened” or “un-harnessed”! Taking the bindings off the working animal to recoup and rest!), (Deliverance)
- He cared for the man (Philippians 2:4… Mentoring, teaching, discipling!), (Disciple)
- The Samaritan paid two denarii to look after the man and said he would reimburse any “extra expenses” upon his return! God has showed me in the past that a denarius represented a days wage (Matthew 20:1-16), which was also a day’s stay in the inns. This means that the Samaritan paid for two days (wages / stay) and agreed to account for expenses, damages, works, needs, etc. when he returned!! A day is like a thousand years, a thousand years a day (2 Peter 3:8)! Jesus PAID the price on Calvary for us… That was 2,000 years ago! And, He WILL RETURN for His people, taking a total account, the plan of salvation, preserving us from the harm, ruin and loss from sin! (Redemption)
The whole story of the Samaritan is the plan of Salvation… How Jesus meets us where we are, heals us, disciples us and returns for us. It is also an instruction to the Body of Christ and how we should care for the lost here on earth. God has dealt with me about needing to identify the steps of how we take people from the “street”, heal them, help them and get them on their feet. The parable of the Samaritan is His instruction.
